Bright Bootcamp...

Based out in Bright for the Anzac long weekend as a tag on to a group training to ride from Melbourne to Sydney.

Today we took a spin out to Buffalo, and somehow managed to slot in some sunshine between the rain.

Managed to pick up a few cheeky KOM points and it easily felt like a PB, but I've been riding without a computer so there was no confirmation. Looks like I'll just have to give it another crack.

A brilliant ride in great conditions, considering we were expecting snow... but it was a case of dodgem on the way down - avoiding quite a few landslips at speed is always interesting!

After a coffee in Bright a few of us decided to smash it up Tawonga. The pace was on early, and it was quickly down to two. Bade thought I was playing with him when I dropped off for the third time, but the reality was I was deep in the pain box... Bade beat me to the top in a convincing 3 and a half minutes..

Luckily the house we are staying at is kitted out with a spa. Pretty awesome after a tough day in the saddle...

Trouble a brewing....

Things are looking decidely chilly for this weekends hills training in
the high country. The question is whether we will beat the snow....

The first step..

Well, that's it. The bullet is bitten, the plunge has been taken, the fox is in the hole. Months of dreaming, a 230km hillfest-test, and plenty of conversations around 'whether it will be possible' have resulted in a mixed response.

The question is whether a group of purely recreational cyclists can complete this challenge has been hanging in the air too long. When faced with doubts of this nature - I find the best thing to do is just commit to it. The rest will sort itself out from there!

So, in all it's glory I present: Hells 500.
- 48 hours
- 500 kilometres
- 10,000 vertical metres of climbing
It's a sufferfest, and it's coming to the High Country in November, 2010.
